Summer is Here! 3 Things to Do to Protect Your Skin From the Sun!

Wearing sunscreen daily is so important to protect your skin. Whether you are just driving in your car, gardening outside, going to the lake, or just simply going on a walk you need to be wearing sunscreen daily! We get a lot of sunscreen questions on what type of UV does your sunscreen need to protect from? There are two different types of UV radiation that you should ensure your sunscreen is protecting you from.

  1. UVA: This has a longer wavelength than UVAB and is associated with skin aging.

  2. UVB: This has a shorter wavelength and is associated with skin burning.

Which one is worse for your skin? Both are harmful to your skin, although UVB doesn’t go as deep as UVA it can still damage the top layers of your skin and skin cells. ZO Skin Health has some awesome sunscreen products that protect from UVA/UVB radiations and some protect you from IR-A and HEV rays as well. Check out their sunscreen line below and get yourself some sunscreen that will protect you this summer.

The second thing to do to protect your skin from sun damage is to look into CO₂ FRACTIONAL RESURFACING & SCAR REDUCTION to help repair any current sun damage you have to your skin. Our CO₂ Fractional Resurfacing & Scar Reduction is the perfect treatment that leaves your skin glowing while also helping decrease typical skin issues like sun damage.

We’ve all been there, the first few nice days in Colorado and we are breaking out the shorts and t-shirts, that’s fine to do as long as you’re wearing protective clothing. Some things we recommend to people are sunglasses, because it’s important to protect your eyes and the skin around your eyes from the sun.

Another thing to consider is wearing a baseball cap or wide-brim hat when you are going outside for yard work or going for a walk. By wearing a hat you can protect your scalp, shoulders, and face from the sun.

Lastly, try wearing protective clothing when you are going on hikes or going to be outside for a prolonged period of time. When you wearing protective clothing such as dry and thicker fabrics you will stay cooler and protect your skin from the sun.

It’s important to wear sunscreen in addition to wearing protective clothing.

We love Colorado summer just as much as the next person, but with Colorado’s altitude the sun is harsh, be sure you are protecting your skin when you are going outside.
